Middlebury 3, St. Norbert 0, Final

— Mickey Gilchrist’s empty-net goal at 19:15 clinched a third consecutive national championship for Middlebury at the First Arena.

Just after the expiration of its second power play, Middlebury’s John Sales wristed a puck high to the far side past goalie Kyle Jones to give the Panthers their second goal at 7:15 of the second period.

St. Norbert will start the third period with a :34 second man advantage.

Middlebury took advantage of its first power play to open up a 1-0 lead on St. Norbert. Robert MacIntyre banged home a rebound off of Tom Maldonado’s shot from the point at 1:36 of the first period.

The Panthers outshot the Green Knights 7-3 in the second period for a two-period advantage of 17-14. Middlebury is 1-3 on the power play, while St. Norbert is 0-3.

In the first period, St. Norbert was 0-2 on the power play. Middlebury goalie Doug Raeder made nine saves and St. Norbert goalie Kyle Jones made 11 saves. The Panthers had three minors and the Green Knights, two.
