D-III ECAC Will Hold Open Tryouts For New Referees

— The ECAC Ice Hockey Officiating staff will be conducting two tryouts for candidates interested in officiating intercollegiate men’s and women’s ice hockey.

The first clinic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at Horgan Arena in Auburn, Mass.On Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 the second clinic will be held at the ESL Sports Centre on the campus of Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y.

Two sessions will be conducted during the tryouts: an exam and an on-ice evaluation.The exam will focus on the sport of ice hockey and the NCAA Ice Hockey Rules and Interpretations book, while the on-ice session will be focused on skating skills.

Tryouts are for new candidates only.Interested candidates need to register online at www.ecac.org.

The ECAC provides men’s and women’s ice hockey officials for the ECAC Men’s East, ECAC Women’s East, ECAC Northeast, ECAC Men’s West, ECAC Women’s West, NESCAC Men’s and Women’s Leagues, Northeast-10 Conference, and the SUNYAC.
