ECACHL Coaches and Media Agree On Colgate

Raiders the top pick on both men's polls

— The ECACHL released its preseason polls and both the coaches and the media have made Colgate as the team to beat in the 2006-07 season.

Colgate ran away with first place in the media poll, garnering 11 of the 20 first-place votes. The Raiders finished first in the coaches poll with only three of the 12 first-place votes, finishing just seven points ahead of Clarkson and Harvard. Clarkson garnered five of the first-place votes in the coaches poll while Harvard received the other four.

On the media side Harvard received two first-place votes and finished second, while Clarkson finished fifth with one first-place vote.

Finishing third in the media poll was Dartmouth with five of the first-place votes. Dartmouth finished tied with Cornell for fourth place in the coaches poll, while Cornell was fifth in the media poll.

St. Lawrence and Quinnipiac occupied the sixth and seventh places on each poll, with the Saints finishing sixth in the coaches poll and seventh in the media poll.

Union, Rensselaer and Princeton went eight, nine and ten in both polls while Yale and Brown finished tied for 11th in the coaches poll and Yale was 11th in the media poll.

The preseason All-ECACHL teams as determined by the coaches and the media were also announced.

Five of the six members were identical on both lists, while there was one difference between the two lists. Colgate goaltender Mark Dekanich was named on both lists as were forwards Nick Dodge of Clarkson, David Jones of Dartmouth and Tyler Burton of Colgate. Reid Cashman of Quinnipiac was named on defense on both lists while the media had Dylan Reese of Harvard on its list of defenseman and the coaches had Dartmouth’s Grant Lewis.
