College Hockey:
New Big Chill attendance figure released

The new Big Chill at the Big House attendance figure is now confirmed at 104,073 for the outdoor game at Michigan Stadium between Michigan and Michigan State on Dec. 11.

Previously, numbers had varied, but the Detroit Free Press reported the 104,073 total yesterday was also confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The announced attendance at the game was 113,411, but Guinness originally only verified an attendance of 85,451.

In an e-mail to the Free Press Friday, a Guinness spokesperson said there was an issue with the scanners on the day of the game and “further evidence had to be provided.”

I was there and it was a great event in my opinion. It turned out better than what I was expecting. There was actually an atmosphere, unlike the Frozen Four at Ford Field. They also ran the rink the length of the field vs. turning it sideways which I thought was a good idea. The only thing missing was an effort from State.
