College Hockey:
Blood to return to North Dakota blue line

North Dakota defenseman Ben Blood announced today that he will return to the Fighting Sioux for his senior season this fall.

Blood opted not to sign with the Ottawa Senators, the team that made him a fourth-round draft pick (120th overall) in 2007.

Blood appeared in all 44 games for the Fighting Sioux in 2010-11 and led the nation with a +32 plus/minus rating. He added two goals and a career-best 10 assists for 12 points and was the only UND skater to play in all 44 games.

In 118 career games, Blood has 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists) and is a +46.

Thanks Blood! Dell also anounced his return on twitter so it looks as though we might have a pretty decent team over-all.. He had the chance to sign an entry level contract with the Habs but declined even as a free agent. How awesome is that?

True tenacity of players that want to finish school, hone their skills, and make an immediate entry into the NHL level, not the AHL. Hence, Frattin playing for the Maple Leafs within days of the Fozen Four appearance. How many college players can accomplish that????

what else is he going to do?? he won’t play in the nhl and he won’t get a degree, so his options are obviously limited!!!!!!

Dell is overrated its not really that hard when you have to best defensemen in the league!!!!!

So what your really trying to say is…………. Dell is solid and our D men are better? Hahaha say what you want but we all know Solid means Solid Making the saves when you need to is hard. Getting fourty shots a game just makes a tender “heat” up. Saving 20 a game is just as hard and thats coming from a distinguished goaltender.

well he has a decent chance to be on a team that wins games because of all the early departures at other schools. That will put things on a level playing field for North Dakota this year.

Kristo and Dell have announced that they intend to return as well. Hopefully Gregoire and Hextall follow suit.
