College Hockey:
Former Michigan Tech coach Russell replaces Berard as Providence assistant

Former Michigan Tech coach Jamie Russell will replace longtime Providence assistant coach David Berard with the Friars, the Providence Journal reported.

Berard had been with the Friars for 13 seasons, under head coaches Paul Pooley and Tim Army.

“It was a difficult decision. David is a tremendous person,” new Providence coach Nate Leaman told the newspaper.

Russell resigned in March after compiling a 70-197-37 record in eight seasons with Michigan Tech.
