College Hockey:
Penn State women apply to CHA

The Penn State women’s program has officially submitted an application to College Hockey America for admission for the 2012-13 season.

“This is s a great time for the CHA,” said CHA commissioner Robert DeGregorio in a statement. “With Penn State’s addition of women’s ice hockey, it was a natural fit for them to apply to the CHA.”

“We are very honored and excited about the manner in which we are moving forward and look forward to the next step in the process,” added Penn State head coach Josh Brandwene.

The CHA currently consists of Mercyhurst, Niagara, Robert Morris and Syracuse. Wayne State was the fifth member before the Warriors’ program folded in May.
