College Hockey:
First women’s poll has defending champs Wisconsin at top

The defending national champion Wisconsin Badgers start this season where they ended last season – at No. 1 on the USCHO.com Division I Women’s Poll.

Wisconsin received all 14 first-place votes.

Boston University comes in second, just edging out No. 3 Cornell by five points.

Minnesota sits at No. 4, while Boston College rounds out the top five.

Minnesota-Duluth goes one notch later at No. 6 and North Dakota sits in the seventh rank.

Mercyhurst comes in eighth, while Quinnipiac, not ranked in last season’s final poll, starts the year at No. 9.

Dartmouth and Providence tied for the tenth and final spot in this week’s poll.

Watch for Mercyhurst.  I’m thinking 4-5.
