College Hockey:
Men’s poll has Minnesota-Duluth a unanimous No. 1 – again

Like last week, Minnesota-Duluth is the unanimous No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll.

After that, changes abound in the other 19 slots in the rankings.

Boston University goes from sixth to second, Boston College is up one to No. 3, Minnesota to No. 4 and Ohio State falling from No. 2 to fifth round out the top five.

Merrimack is up one to No. 6, Notre Dame falls four to seventh, Western Michigan rises two to No. 8, Cornell stays ninth and Michigan jumps five to enter the top half of the poll at No. 10.

At No. 11, Colorado College is down three, Union is up two spots to No. 12, Ferris State remains 13th, Massachusetts-Lowell falls three to No. 14, while Denver is up one place to No. 15.

Michigan State rises two to No. 16, North Dakota is again No. 17, Colgate drops six to No. 18, Lake Superior State stays 19th and previously-unranked Miami is back in the rankings at No. 20.

To busy whining about how Blood needs to be suspended for his little love tap in the handshake line.

Hey, I personally cannot see anything in this poll that I disagree with.

How does Minnesota State garner FOUR votes when they have an overall record of 7-16-1, and a measely 3-12-1 in the conference?

Really?  26th place out of 51 teams in D-1?   Come On, Man!!

How does Boston College lose to UMASS and go up one in the rankings?

    • KevHurls

Boston College is a school of rich kids. That’s how. It’s a shame, though I can’t speak much for my Fightin’ Irish – who are similarly given the benefit of the doubt ever since Jackson has resurrected (I know – a Catholic theme) the program and taken it to unforeseen hights.

If BC is a school of rich kids, then Notre Dame certainly is as well.

Only the BC homers voting in this poll can have BC lose to an unranked team and move *up* in the rankings.

I guess everyone else (other than Duluth) played terribly this weekend, vaulting my Terriers to a semi-deserved number 2. I am not sure that BU is the best team in Hockey East, more likely a three-way death match between BU/BC/Merrimack.

Then again, if we are all being honest, there are the Bulldogs with all the first place votes and then there are about ten teams that could be 2nd-11th.
