College Hockey:
No change in women’s poll, including Wisconsin at the top

Wisconsin stays atop the USCHO.com Division I Women’s Poll this week with 13 first-place votes.

Minnesota is again No. 2, as is No. 3 Cornell, who received the other two first-place nods from the voters.

The rest of the poll is also the same as last week with Boston College, North Dakota, Mercyhurst, Northeastern, Harvard, Boston University and St. Lawrence taking spots 4-10, respectively.

The USCHO.com Poll is compiled weekly and consists of 15 voters, including 14 coaches of Division I programs and one women’s hockey writer.

Assuming that WI, MN and Cornell received every top-three vote, that means the breakdown is as follows.

    WI (13 first-place, 2 second-place, 0 third-place) = 148
    MN (0, 10, 5) = 130
    Cornell (2, 3, 10) = 127

MN is far better than Cornell.  The NCAA tourney will show just how much better the WCHA is.
