College Hockey:
Maine sophomore Parker booted from team

Maine sophomore right wing John Parker has been dismissed from the Black Bears for what coach Tim Whitehead told the Bangor Daily News was “several alcohol-related infractions.”

“It’s a shame,” said Whitehead in the report. “We were really looking forward to having him on the team. He had the potential to be an impact player and was coming off a good freshman year, but this is the right thing to do. Hopefully, he can learn a lesson and get a clean start with another team.”

Parker hadn’t yet played this season after having foot surgery prior to the season.

Whitehead said Parker will finish the current semester and then join a junior team or transfer to another school. Parker has three years of eligibility remaining.

Last season, Parker had three goals and four assists in 33 games with Maine.

nice to see a coach with the temerity to call it as it is and not cover this nonsense up.

He may as well go to nodak, he will fit right in with that culture!

I don’t know, them Goofers seem to be doing just fine with their own tapping of the Keg abilities lately…

Every team does. They are college kids.

    • sioux rule

Yep NoDak is the only team where the players drink. Clueless much?

    • nogofer

Rodents just lost a defender, this kid would fit right in with the land of 10,000 minors…

  • BBear94

I wish that Whitehead would leave Maine so that I could stop drinking. Good grief…

    • SaveMaineHockey

Amen. Little does he know that drinking his way off the team would be the best career decision he could make.

There is nothing in the world so much admired as a man who knows how to bear unhappiness with courage.

Can we get rid of this? Sueh8ter is enough dribble on these pages…

How about the Goph Fans eat sh*t! What about the great Nate Hagemo?

Since a shoulder injury in October 2004, when he was playing for the University of Minnesota, Hagemo has had a string of criminal allegations and convictions in Minneapolis against him involving illicit drugs, alcohol, traffic violations and a serious crash that put a bicyclist in a wheelchair for two months.
