College Hockey:Maine sophomore Parker booted from team
Maine sophomore right wing John Parker has been dismissed from the Black Bears for what coach Tim Whitehead told the Bangor Daily News was “several alcohol-related infractions.”
“It’s a shame,” said Whitehead in the report. “We were really looking forward to having him on the team. He had the potential to be an impact player and was coming off a good freshman year, but this is the right thing to do. Hopefully, he can learn a lesson and get a clean start with another team.”
Parker hadn’t yet played this season after having foot surgery prior to the season.
Whitehead said Parker will finish the current semester and then join a junior team or transfer to another school. Parker has three years of eligibility remaining.
Last season, Parker had three goals and four assists in 33 games with Maine.
