College Hockey:
NCHA tabs Adrian goaltender Zeches top women’s player

Adrian senior goaltender Brittany Zeches has been named the NCHA player of the year and Lake Forest’s Carisa Zaban is the NCHA coach of the year.

For Zeches, who started her career at Division I Wayne State before that program folded in May 2011, a nation-best nine shutouts has helped Adrian to 19 wins this year.

“Brittany is relentless in net,” Adrian coach Chad Davis said in a news release. “Her desire and passion to play set her apart. She’s been so consistent, it’s ridiculous.”

Zaban also won top coaching honors in 2010.

In addition, the NCHA also announced its All-NCHA Team, honorable mentions and All-Rookie Team.
