College Hockey:
D-I men’s committee adds Faison, Knowlton and McGinnis

The NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee has added North Dakota director of athletics Brian Faison, Rensselaer athletics director Jim Knowlton and Minnesota associate athletics director and chief financial officer Tom McGinnis as the three newest members to the committee.

Their four-year terms will begin Sept. 1, 2013.

“We couldn’t be happier with the selection of these three individuals,” said NCAA associate director of championships and alliances and operations manager for the Division I men’s ice hockey championship Kristin Fasbender. “They all bring a wealth of knowledge and experience and will be tremendous assets to Division I men’s ice hockey.”

Faison will be the National Collegiate Hockey Conference representative, Knowlton the ECAC rep and McGinnis the rep for the Big Ten Conference.

The committee, going from five members to six due to the addition of the NCHC, is made up of one person from each hockey-playing conference and currently consists of Bemidji State director of athletics Rick Goeb, Notre Dame senior associate athletics director Tom Nevala, Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold, Vermont head coach Kevin Sneddon and Air Force deputy director of athletics Col. William Walker.
