This is the time of year we get to hear the Gopher fans whine about avoiding North Dakota in the regionals and why the Hockey East has it easy and that is why they have won 4 of the last 5 NCAA Titles.

    • ExiledGopher

Actually, Hockey East hasn’t won anything…BC won 3, BU fluked out one championship…

      • Terrier Hockey

How did BU fluke anything? 35-6-4. They were the team with the best record and won every tournament they entered. They were clearly the best team with the most talent that year. I’m not sure how you can call a late comeback victory a fluke. Miami couldn’t even control the puck in the last minute of regulation. All Miami needed was a solid clear to win the game but the BU 6 on 5 was too good.

        • SDGopherfanatic

they got lucky they didn’t have to play minnesota in the final.

        • ExiledGopher

BU was dominant that year — poor wording on my part. However, that championship comeback was a fluke (in my opinion) — they were outplayed for 90% of the game. But, you are correct, BU won and that’s all that count.

    • goldy

avoid north dakota?? i would love to play them right away…first game, first round. As far as hockey east goes, you have a good point about winning 4 of the past 5 championships but i still think WCHA is better top to bottom.

  • SDGopherfanatic

Hopefully the Gophers can avoid the Sioux in the regionals. Gophers would be #1 if they had an easy schedule like Hockey East teams have. Who does Quinnipiac play?

    • Eagle

Another Gopher fan scared of the Sioux .Gophers will have to take off their Dress one day .. Maybe the Big Ten will be better .Personally I think the Michigan teams will be pounding those soft Minnesota boys They do in Youth Hockey.

      • ExiledGopher

must be true…author sounds like he knows alot about pounding soft boys

        • Eagle

Thats your Pas job while i do your Mommy

          • ExiledGopher

            Actually, he’s dead, too.

          • disqus_GuKFRaa7J7

No hockey east blog u spend a lot of time making comments on wcha must be jealous and stick to insults about hockey not peoples parents I’m sure eventhough I’m a gopher fan people will agree that it really shows no class at all and u r not representing your school well at all

        • Eagle

Your mom likes inall 3 holes

          • ExiledGopher

Nah…she doesn’t like much of anything now, she’s dead.

      • holmesaaaa

Yeah thats why the Minnesota roster has 23 Minnesota born kids and Michigan has only 11 Michigan born kids. Its because Michigan puts out more talent. Yep, also College Hockey is made up of about 40 percent of Minnesota born kids far more than any other state but yeah Michigan is where its at.

        • Eagle

Simple Einstein Minnesota born kids are not smart enough to get into other schools that is a fact Minnesota Hockey Players all have the same Remedial class schedule to keep them eligible . As far as 40% not even close .check your facts .

          • ExiledGopher

Check out the grammar, punctuation, and hyperbole in the post by the dolt spewing about remedial classes and exaggerated statistics.

          • Kyle

I’d like to see some facts on how Minnesota kids aren’t smart enough to get into other schools and how they have this remedial class schedule. I’d be willing to bet that most Minnesota kids stay in Minnesota because they know it’s the most competitive conference and it gets the most support of any conference. I’ve gone to school in both MN and Boston and it’s sad how little anyone cares about college hockey out East.

          • Mike

If that is true so be it, but if you’re going to make such a claim you should be willing to post some links/facts to back it up. Also if that were true why do you find MN kids on so many D1 teams?

Sorry you must have been huffing next to the prairie dog town by Wall Drug. Quinnipiac doesn’t play in Hockey East. You also, are proving to be just like a Sue fan, shooting your mouth off too early. If the Goofs lose, like they’ve done a lot under Lucia the past bunch of years, who, other than the Goofs, are you going to blame?

    • SDFopherGonatic

Check you out. You must be a teenager because anyone who has been around college hockey knows that since the Herb Brooks era, teams like Wisconsin, North Dakota and BC have done a lot more than the Goofers. If you are saying you have to avoid a team, then you have some pretty faulty logic kid. If it wasn’t for the fact that the Goofs had Leopold, Martin, Ballard and a couple of other quality players two years in a row, you wouldn’t have as many championships as LSSU since Brooksie. Every WCHA fan hopes they make Lucia the coach for life

      • ExiledGopher

Translation: if you only count the games I want to count in the years I want to count them with the players I want to count, you guys didn’t win anything except for the other years, but I’m pretending they didn’t happen….

    • goldy

why would the gophers want to avoid the sioux? The sioux are not a better team this year. Who are these gopher fans that want to put off or all together not play the sioux in the tournament?! Youre embarrassing me. Im not scared of them. Ya, we could lose but i would rather play them with a chance of defeat than let someone else do our dirty work. Bring it! I love UND/Gopher games. Always a battle.

If the Gophers played Quinnipiac 10 times, they would win 11.

  • SDGopherfanatic

Schools with the top 5 strength of schedules in order 1-5. Colorado College, Denver, North Dakota, Alaska-Anchorage, St. Cloud State. What is the common link here? They all play in the WCHA and they all have to play Minnesota. The team with 23 Minnesota kids on it.

    • Afterfurtherreview

I see a common link, UNH (you know the 5th place HE team) was 3-0-1 against those top 5 SOS.

    • Bernie

i don’t understand your point. LA Kings had 7 Americans on their Cup winning roster last year. None from MN. NY (2), MI (2), CT, WI, UT. Seems like from all the posting you do, you must be a freshman at MN with too much free time

      • SCSU

        No, Probably UW-River Falls.

  • disqus_70hvmODORt

Two words for Gopher fans. Holy Cross.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mvhuber Mark Huber

It is amazing how much people hate the Gophers. Mr. Eagle here has basically nothing good to say about what most people would consider a pretty solid program. Furthermore, North Dakota is damn good and nobody in the country would want to play them first round.

  • Bill Dexter

Who names there team the Gophers?? haha soo scary
