College Hockey:Boston College’s Gaudreau wins Hockey East player of the year laurels
Hockey East announced its three major award winners Thursday and three All-Star teams.
Boston College sophomore forward Johnny Gaudreau was named player of the year, Providence goalie Jon Gillies took home rookie of the year honors and Massachusetts-Lowell’s Norm Bazin was named coach of the year.
Gillies was also runner-up for player of the year along with Merrimack’s Mike Collins.
Lowell goalie Connor Hellebuyck was runner-up for rookie of the year, while Providence’s Nate Leaman finished second to Bazin in the coaching category.
