Nieto leaves Boston University, signs with San Jose

Boston University junior forward Matt Nieto has left school to sign with the NHL’s San Jose Sharks.

The official announcement was made Tuesday by the Sharks.

Last season, Nieto tallied 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in 39 games and registered 44 goals and 102 points in 115 games with the Terriers.

The Sharks drafted Nieto in the second round (47th overall) of the 2011 NHL draft.
