Alabama-Huntsville junior Uusivirta arrested on rape charge

According to the Huntsville Times, Alabama-Huntsville junior defenseman Lasse Uusivirta was arrested Monday and charged with raping an 18-year-old woman back on Jan. 13.

“Information about an incident on campus came to the attention of university officials,” UAH spokesman Ray Garner said in a statement. “The facts of the incident were immediately submitted to the university’s process. As a result of those procedures, punishment was administered to the student in accordance with established university policies and precedents.”

Uusirvirta was being held on $10,000 bond, according to The Times’ news partner WHNT, but it was not immediately clear if Uusirvirta has posted bond.

This is a case of two kids drinking and the female deciding she was taken advantage of. She may or may not have consented; she clearly believes she did not and she has that right. The point is, guys be careful what you do when drinking. The laws these days make it almost impossible to have any sexual contact if a person is intoxicated because they are written to say one cannot give consent while drinking. It is a tough time to be a college student these days.
