College Hockey:
Atlantic Hockey picks Feb. 3-7

Last Week: 4-7-2
On the Season: 127-51-23 (.689)

This Week’s Picks:

Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4
Rochester Institute of Technology at Air Force – The Tigers won the only meeting so far between the two teams back in November, which evened the all-time series between the teams at 14-14-3. I’m expecting two close games, with each team coming away with two points. RIT 3, Air Force 2; Air Force 2, RIT 1.

Sacred Heart vs. Bentley – The rest of the series this weekend are all home-and-home affairs. In this case, the Falcons host first. I think they take all four points. Bentley 4, Sacred Heart 2; Bentley 4, Sacred Heart 1.

American International vs. Holy Cross – The Crusaders are coming off a sweep at the hands of Connecticut and I think they get back on track this weekend. Holy Cross 3, AIC 1; Holy Cross 5, AIC 4.

Canisius vs. Robert Morris – The Colonials host Friday before the actions moves to Buffalo on Saturday. I’m picking the home team in each game. Robert Morris 3, Canisius 1; Canisius 3, Robert Morris 2.

Niagara vs. Mercyhurst – This should be an entertaining series with both teams well within striking distance of first place. Niagara is on a roll right now, and it’s tough to pick against that. Niagara 3, Mercyhurst 2; Niagara 2, Mercyhurst 1.

Tuesday, Feb. 7
Army at Connecticut – This is a makeup for a contest that was cancelled back on Oct. 29 due to bad weather. The Huskies have taken both prior games between the teams this season by a combined score of 7-0. I think they’ll take the season sweep. UConn 4, Army 1.

The BU loss wasn’t a shocker, was simply embarrassing. The worst game I’ve ever seen BU play. We all know that they are not a first period team so I expected Sperry to come back strong for the second, which she did (AMAZING saves). Without getting into 101 hockey basics for this game let’s just mention one player that really needs to have better judgment.. Tara Watchorn, there had to be at least three 2 on 1 situations that she let happen. News flash, if the play is at the hash line and the puck is closer to TWO opponents get on defense mode not OFENSE!
And as to Jill, well remember when your Mite/Squirt coach used to tell you look before you pass..
I remember the days where BU was the #1 defense in the country, so long gone!
Can’t wait for the Gophers and The soon to stop being Fighting Sioux this weekend!

Been a long time coming but it is exciting to see uconn beginning to compete at a higher level. When attended in the late70s they were still playing as as club sport in an outdoor rink. Hope they can continue to grow. Nice to see them competitive in Atlantic hockey league. Let’s hope more money gets pumped into the program so scholarships can be awarded

Niagara was the same when I was attending ’73-’77….a club team….
