Kieran Millan now boasts the best start of any rookie goaltender in BU history at 18-1-1, passing current Boston University women’s head coach Brian Durocher.

The Eberly Award for highest save percentage goes to NU goalie Brad Thiessen, who would without a doubt prefer to be somewhere else right now. The backstop made 74 saves on 80 shots in his 120 minutes of work.

Tournament MVP goes to Terrier sophomore center Nick Bonino, who scored three goals in the tournament, including the game-winner tonight.

Classy of all to cheer the award-winners. This year’s Beanpot had its ups and downs, but in the end it was what it always is: great hockey, plain and simple.

BU fans: “who’s your daddy”, as BU now two wins against the Huskies in two tries this year. “Hey hey hey, goodbye” of course … NU is standing proud, cheering hard for their boys despite the deficit. “North-Eastern” reverberated as loudly as it did in the first period, as did their “let’s go Huskies”.

It’s good to see such a devoted fan base ignore the temptation of bitter responses. This Husky team still has a lot to be proud of, and even more potential to realize.

There’s the “1988″ from the Dog Pound (BU) … the last time the Huntington Hounds hoisted the ‘Pot.

At least the Dog House (NU) has a sense of humor. Its counter-argument?

Hobey Baker candidate Colin Wilson piled on, ripping it by Thiessen moments later for the kill shot. 5-2 Terriers, BU on the power play with 4:28 to go.

Barring a monumental comeback, the win will give BU an undefeated non-conference record and its 29th Beanpot title … far and away the most of the four participants.

Right off the bat, Silva gets a Grade-A chance with a low-slot rebound, traffic, and a down-and-out goalie … but the puck hit something, somewhere, and the Terriers cleared the zone.

Seconds later, Terrier defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk got called for a cross-check, putting the Huskies on a :45 5×3.
