College Hockey:
Hunter Scores Her First Two Goals as Wisconsin Wins, 5-3

Badgers Top Mercyhurst in Opening Game

— Meghan Hunter scored two goals in her first collegiate game, Kendra Antony had a goal and an assist and Wisconsin topped Mercyhurst 5-3 at the Kohl Center on Saturday.

Hunter scored the Badgers’ first two goals of the game, at 9:43 of the first period and early in the second.

The Lakers’ K.C. Gallo scored between Hunter’s goals.

Nicole Uliasz scored her first collegiate goal, unassisted, to give Wisconsin a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.

But Gallo brought the Lakers back within one before the period expired, banking in a shot from the side of the net off a UW defender at 19:12.

Wisconsin’s Michelle Sikich and Mercyhurst’s Christy Vinge traded goals in the first 7:09 of the third, but Antony put the game away, scoring with less than four minutes left.

Amber Natali made 28 shots for the Lakers. Badgers goaltender Jackie MacMillan made 14 saves.

“It is tougher when you get flashes of shots and they come at different periods of the game,” MacMillan said. “My team did a great job of playing defense and keeping the shots to the outside. It made easy on me out there tonight.”
