College Hockey:Stout Tops Crookston, 5-3
Blue Devils Open Lead Early in Second Period
MENOMONIE, Wis. — It may not have been pretty, but it still counts as a tally in the win column as Wisconsin-Stout defeated Minnesota-Crookston, 5-3, Saturday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
The Blue Devils (2-0) took four penalties in the first period, but only allowed Crookston to convert on one power play.
Stout went ahead 1-0 on Aaron Decker’s goal, then built its lead to 3-1 in the second period on goals by freshmen Nathan Legler and Derek Nichols in the first 10 minutes of the period.
