College Hockey:No. 9 St. Cloud Hangs On Over Alaska-Anchorage
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — St. Cloud State skated to a 3-1 win over Alaska-Anchorage pushing SCSU’s record to
12-4-1 overall and 7-4-0 and dropping UAA to 5-9-1, 3-7-1 WCHA.
SCSU’s Jon Culen, who owns a seven-game scoring streak, charted his third game winning goal of the season at 8:37 of the second period with assists from Matt Hendricks and Keith Anderson. The goal came after Mark Hartigan opened SCSU’s attack with his 12th goal of the season at 14:50 of the first period.
Matt Shasby posted UAA’s lone goal at 10:59 of the second period before Tyler Arnason iced the game with a goal at 19:04 of the third. Goalie Scott Meyer gained an assist on the goal, his second of the 2000-01 season.
Meyer was the goalie of record in the game with 22 saves, while Chris King had 20 saves for UAA. In the game, SCSU and UAA both had 23 shots on goal.
The two teams will square off again on Dec. 16, at 7:05 p.m. in St. Cloud.
