College Hockey:
Herbert Nets Winner as QU Edges Bentley

— Brian Herbert’s goal 1:51 into the third period proved to be the game-winning score as Quinnipiac held off Bentley, 3-2, in a MAAC contest at the Watertown Ice Arena.

Bentley had taken a 2-1 lead 5:39 into the second period, but Chad Poliquin tallied his sixth goal of the season, a power-play tally at the 12:09 mark to knot the score at two.

Just 1:51 into the final period, Herbert notched his 12th goal of the season for the game-winner, off assists from Terry Harris and Shawn Mansoff. The assist increased Mansoff’s point-scoring streak to nine games.

Bentley outshot Quinnipiac, 38-30, for the game. Justin Eddy made 36 saves for the Braves, the 11th time this season he has recorded 30 in a game. Eddy stopped 10 Falcon shots in the third period to earn the victory, his 13th on the season.

Chris Cerrella added one goal and one assist for the Braves. With the two points, Cerrella moved one shy of Todd Johnson ’89, who holds the QU career scoring mark with 202 points.

It was Quinnipiac’s 10th straight win over Bentley. The Braves improved to 19-10-4, 16-7-2 in the MAAC. Bentley fell to 4-22-2, 3-20-2.
