Lakers Score Five Unanswered To Stay Unbeaten In MAAC

— Mercyhurst trailed 1-0 early before scoring five straight goals to defeat American International 5-1 Saturday evening in a MAAC. Mike Carter and Adam Rivers each netted two goals.

The Lakers remain unbeaten in conference play at 17-0-3 and 18-7-3 overall, while AIC drops its ninth straight and falls to 6-16-0 overall and 5-15-0 in the league.

Olivier Gagnon gave AIC an early 1-0 lead as he scored a power-play goal at 8:34 of the first period.

But Rivers would tie the game at one at 16:04 before Carter gave Mercyhurst a two-goal advantage with a two-goal second period. Rivers’ second goal came on a power play just five minutes into the final period before Brad Olsen finished the scoring at 12:45.

Peter Aubry turned away 31 shots in picking up the win, while freshman Chad Davis suffered the loss, turning away 39 shots.
