College Hockey:
Maday breaks tie, lifts Notre Dame past Lake Superior State

— Billy Maday broke a 2-2 tie with a second-period short-handed goal, and No. 19 Notre Dame beat Lake Superior State 4-2 on Thursday.

Mike Voran added a goal and an assist, and Mike Johnson made 26 saves for the Fighting Irish (2-1).

The Lakers (0-2-1) twice rallied from a goal down with goals by Zach Trotman and Will Acton.

Brian Mahoney-Wilson stopped 30 shots for Lake Superior State.

David Gerths and Calle Ridderwall also scored for Notre Dame.
