Rust’s penalty shot helps Notre Dame complete sweep of Bowling Green

— Bryan Rust broke a tie on a penalty shot for his second goal of the game, and No. 12 Notre Dame eliminated Bowling Green from the CCHA playoffs with a 4-3 victory on Saturday.

The Fighting Irish swept the best-of-three CCHA quarterfinal series.

Rust broke a 2-2 tie in the third period after Bowling Green’s Jose Delgadillo was called for delay of game after covering the puck in the crease. Rust also scored the only goal in a 1-0 overtime win on Friday.

Nick Larson and Anders Lee also scored for Notre Dame (23-12-3), which got 29 saves from Steven Summerhays.

Bryce Williamson scored twice for the Falcons (15-21-5).
