College Hockey:
Mucha, Laing help Princeton past New Hampshire

PRINCETON, N.J. — Olivia Mucha and Denna Laing tallied a goal and an assist to lead Princeton to a 3-1 victory over New Hampshire on Friday.

After a scoreless first, Mucha opened the scoring with 1:06 remaining in the second period, blasting home a feed from Laing at the hash marks to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Carrying momentum into the third, the Tigers’ offense scored twice in the first minute of the period, as Ali Pankowski and Laing scored 34 seconds apart to give Princeton a 3-0 lead.

Haley Breedlove scored the lone goal for New Hampshire, as the Wildcats crashed the crease of goaltender Kimberley Newell with just under three minutes remaining. But Newell finished strong, stopping 13 of 14 shots in the third for a game total of 24 saves.

Goaltender Vilma Vaattovaara made 17 saves for the Wildcats.
