College Hockey:
McKenna’s first collegiate goal, assist help Princeton past Union

PRINCETON, N.J. — Fiona McKenna scored her first collegiate goal and added an assist, and Ali Pankowski tallied a goal and an assist to lead Princeton to a 4-1 victory over Union Saturday afternoon.

Olivia Mucha and Denna Laing connected on their second short-handed tandem in as many days, with Laing finding Mucha right in the slot in front of the net to take an early 1-0 lead.

The Tigers offense stayed hot in the second stanza, firing 16 shots on net and extending the lead twice midway through the period. First, Pankowski rifled a blast from the right point at 5:22 from Hilary Lloyd and McKenna. Then Cristin Shanahan scored three and a half minutes later from Kelsey Kolzer and Cassidy Tucker to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.

At 16:16 the Dutchwomen offense found life, as Alex Tancrell-Fontaine took a feed from Kelly McGrath and Kathryn Tomaselli to cut the deficit to 3-1.

But McKenna followed her first collegiate assist with her first collegiate goal two minutes later, restoring the three-goal lead for the Tigers.

Kimberly Newell stopped 10 of 11 shots for Princeton, improving to 5-6-2. Shenae Lundberg made 29 saves for Union.
