Brickler hat trick rallies Geneseo past Norwich for NCAA semifinal spot

GENESEO, N.Y. — With his team trailing by two goals late in the second period, Geneseo’s Tyler Brickler took over and delivered the Knights to the NCAA semifinals for the first time.

Brickler scored a hat trick in the game’s final 22:13 for a 3-2 Geneseo victory over Norwich on Sunday in the NCAA quarterfinals.

He scored power-play goals late in the second period and early in the third to erase a 2-0 deficit, then put the Knights ahead 6:28 into the final period.

Nick Horrigan made 35 saves for Geneseo (23-6), which will play St. Norbert in the semifinals on Friday in Lewiston, Maine.

Anthony Flaherty and Shane Gorman scored for the Cadets (20-7-3).

Norwich’s Chris Czarnota stopped 22 shots.
