Three Up, Three Down
There may be some spots opening up in the USCHO D-I Poll next week, as we saw a fair amount of shuffling already this weekend. No. 2 Mercyhurst may move back up to the top spot after sweeping Robert Morris, seeing as top-ranked Minnesota fell twice at No. 5 Minnesota-Duluth only one week into the Gophers' newly attained ranking. Back east, No. 3 Clarkson took a spill at home against Rensselaer on Friday, falling 3-1 to the pesky Engineers before rebounding with a Saturday victory over Union. To complete the unfortunate trinity, fourth-ranked New Hampshire took it on the chin as well in a 5-2 home loss to Boston University. Elsewhere, No. 10 Providence continues to rise, edging No. 7 Northeastern in Boston on Saturday, No. 9 Wisconsin dispatched of Bemidji State 6-1 at the Camp Randall Hockey Classic, No. 8 Connecticut slipped by Boston College 3-1, and Syracuse and Niagara split in a tight CHA race for second place.

'Pot Shots
The 32nd annual Women's Beanpot followed the men's, and just like Monday's bipolar affair, Tuesday's events were equally disparate. In the early game, the No. 7 Northestern Huskies avenged their male counterparts, downing Boston University 5-4 ... but only after 65 minutes of hockey wouldn't resolve things. Alyssa Wohlfeiler scored the game-winning goal in a shootout to send the Huntington Hounds back to the championship for the first time since 2004. In the late game, No. 6 Harvard also made up for its men's team's poor Monday showing, routing Boston College by a score of 5-0. Thus while the male Crimson and Huskies will play for third place next Monday night, the women will wrangle for the title on Tuesday at Harvard's Bright Hockey Center.
