Bentley’s Soderquist Suspended Four Games

The MAAC announced Wednesday that Bentley has suspended senior captain Ryan Soderquist an additional three games for an abuse-of-officials penalty received during the Falcons’ Jan. 8 contest at Fairfield.

Soderquist, Bentley’s all-time leading scorer, had already received the automatic one-game suspension as a consequence of the game disqualification he was assessed. He will miss a total of four games.

The incident occurred at 13:54 of the second period Saturday, when Soderquist allegedly intentionally speared a linesman. Sources reported that Soderquist formally apologized to the official after the game.

Bentley College officials could not be reached for comment in the matter.

The MAAC had no additional comment, except that the league has accepted the sanctions put forth by Bentley and will levy no supplemental penalties in the matter.
