Change of Momentum

Early in tonight’s contest, I wondered what had happened to the Elmira squad that had skated so well with Middlebury last spring. St. Thomas was blowing right past them up the ice and it was looking like a long night for the Soaring Eagles. That late power-play goal by Ryan Arnone seemed to stem the tide. Three unanswered here in the second seems to have ignited the crisp passing and quick transition game that characterized Elmira’s storybook playoff run.

  1. Hey Dave! You’ll notice a funny thing about ties – some other team is on the other end of those ties.

With the national champs coming from Hockey East these past 3 years there’s pretty much nothing else needing to be said!

  3. Holy blowout Batman.. with all due respect – Union looked unbeatable against Colgate.. Now #4 in the PW ranking..  they need another win tomorrow to get a #1 seed.

The harvard/cornell game just started – along those lines – It would probably be better if Cornell advances, then if Union beats them the win will have the necessary strength to drive them higher up in the PW ranking to get a #1 seed…

If Harvard wins they’ll likely end up a 2 (if they win) or 3 (if they lose) – which means the outcome technically doesn’t matter (other than bragging rights); they will end up in a 2/3 game.  I’d say the real difference is a 1 vs 4…

  4. Union is destined for success. Cornell is flat this weekend after spanking Dartmouth all over the ice.  They might get an at-large bid, but they are young and have a steep hill to climb.  GO RED

    • I’m a Union Fan, but if i were a Big Red Fan:

#1-You have to hope for Union to win tomorrow (since they get in anyway) and hope for Harvard to lose (and not take up another spot in the tourney).

#2-Take care of business against Colgate

#3-Get some luck with the other teams in the 9-16 slots.
