Quinnipiac women’s coach Seeley signed through ’16-17 with new extension

Quinnipiac announced Wednesday that women’s head coach Rick Seeley has signed a contract extension to remain with the Bobcats through the 2016-17 season.

“I am thrilled with my contract extension,” said Seeley in a statement. “Quinnipiac University has become home for my family. I feel so fortunate to enjoy the incredible support president John Lahey, director of athletics Jack McDonald and senior vice president Mark Thompson have shown me and the program since I arrived here. I am very excited about the direction our program is taking as we continue to establish Quinnipiac as one of the elite programs in [the] ECAC and the nation.”

The third head coach in program history, Seeley will enter his fifth season leading the Bobcats in 2012-13.

Seeley was named the ECAC coach of the year in 2010 after leading the Bobcats to their first postseason berth and holds a 210-147-40 career record and a 63-64-18 record while at Quinnipiac. He earned his 200th victory with a 3-2 victory over Robert Morris in the Nutmeg Classic Tournament championship game on Nov. 26, 2011.
