Haney tabbed as new assistant at Western New England

Western New England has announced that Greg Haney has joined the program as head coach Greg Heffernan’s top assistant.

Haney comes to Western New England after serving as a volunteer assistant coach last season at the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid. Before last year, Haney was a volunteer assistant at Cortland for two years, graduating in 2012 after playing for the Red Dragons his first three years.

“I am very excited to have Greg join our program,” said Heffernan in a news release. “I know that our players will benefit from working with him every day.”

During the off-season, Haney has worked as an instructor at the Can/Am Hockey School for eight summers, as an assistant coach for the Syracuse Cougars Selects and at the U.S. Development Program Hockey School in Ann Arbor, Mich.
