Paula's pick, and it's quick: Oct. 18, 2012

Hey! There’s a game tonight!
This is a quick pick for the series between Minnesota-Duluth and Notre Dame, played tonight and tomorrow at the Compton Center in South Bend. The puck drops at 7:35 p.m. each night. I’ll have picks for the rest of the weekend — and my record for last weekend (hint: it wasn’t good) — Friday morning.
No. 13 Minnesota-Duluth at No. 9 Notre Dame
Last weekend, the Bulldogs opened their season at home with a split against another CCHA team, Ohio State. Senior Mike Seidel led the weekend in scoring with three goals and two assists, including the game-winning, power-play goal in the 6-2 Friday night win. That goal put the Bulldogs up 4-0 by the five-minute mark in the first period of play last weekend. Junior Aaron Crandall played both nights in the UMD net and had a .896 save percentage on the weekend. The Fighting Irish open their home games as Ice Breaker champs, having defeated Maine and Nebraska-Omaha to take the title. Junior goalie Steven Summerhays, this week’s CCHA goaltender of the week, recorded a shutout against Maine and accumulated a .962 save percentage in the two contests. These teams split a pair of games in Duluth last season. Total CCHA homer pick, with no disrespect to the Bulldogs. ND 3-2, 3-1
