MCHA picks: Nov. 2

This weekend marks the first of the 2012-13 season with a full slate of MCHA action. All eight teams will be matched up against conference opponents on Friday and Saturday. MSOE and Concordia are the only two teams that saw conference action last weekend, with the Engineers being victorious in both tilts.
This is my first week of picks, and I’ve never had much luck with calling a winner, but here we go!
Friday-Saturday, November 2-3
Adrian vs. Northland
Both squads have yet to play a game this season, and will face each other in a home-and-home series this weekend. The Bulldogs are looking to defend their regular season championship and will want to start off with a commanding sweep. Adrian 4-1, 4-2
Milwaukee School of Engineering at Finlandia
MSOE has a 2-0-0 record in league play with its sweep of Concordia last weekend. Finlandia fell, 8-1, against Wisconsin-River Falls that same weekend. MSOE 4-1, 3-0
Lawrence vs. Concordia
Although Concordia was swept by MSOE, it was a 2-2 tie game until midway through the third period. Lawrence has yet to see a game this season. Lawrence 4-2, Concordia 3-2
Lake Forest vs. Marian
Another home-and-home conference series. Lake Forest is 0-1-0 on season, with a 5-0 loss against Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Oct. 23. Marian has had two nonconference foes, with a 3-3 overtime tie against Wisconsin-Stout and a 4-1 loss from Wis.-River Falls. Lake Forest 2-1, Marian 3-2
