Minnesota State is the top team in both the WCHA preseason coaches’ poll and media poll, while Ferris State was picked to finish second in both polls.
The media poll was conducted by the Bemidji Pioneer and the coaches’ poll by the Mankato Free Press.
The Mavericks are coming off a Broadmoor Trophy-winning campaign and were also the top team in the 2014 WCHA preseason polls.

Ferris State senior goalie C.J. Motte was tabbed preseason player of the year by the coaches and Minnesota State senior forward Matt Leitner was the media’s pick.
Incoming Minnesota State freshmen forwards C.J. Franklin and Brad McClure were the coaches’ selections for preseason rookies of the year, while Bowling Green defenseman Mark Friedman earned the distinction from the media.
In addition, both the coaches and media selected preseason All-WCHA Teams.
