Hockey East recognizes All-Rookie Team, announces seven other awards

Hockey East announced on Wednesday the 2014-15 Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team and seven other awards.

Mike Paliotta of Vermont is the Old Time Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman and Providence’s Noel Acciari is the Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Best Defensive Forward.

Additionally, Boston College’s Michael Sit and Northeastern’s Dalen Hedges will receive the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award.

Boston University’s Jack Eichel will take home the Army ROTC Three Stars Award and will also be honored as the Squad Locker Scoring Champion after scoring 14 goals and adding 30 assists for 44 points in league play this year.

Providence goaltender Jon Gillies has earned the Stop It Goaltending Champion award, posting a 1.74 GAA and a .939 save percentage while racking up a 12-8-1 record in Hockey East play.

Kevin Sneddon’s Vermont squad will receive the Charlie Holt Sportsmanship Award after averaging 8.5 penalty minutes per game after accumulating just 186 PIM in 22 league games this season.

All awards will be formally presented Thursday night at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass., ahead of the Hockey East semifinals Friday.
