SNHU’s Collins Player of the Year as Northeast-10 announces postseason teams, major award winners

Southern New Hampshire’s Joe Collins is the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, the league announced on Friday.

The league also revealed its All-Conference Teams and major award winners for the 2016-17 season.

Collins led the NE-10 in scoring with 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points. His four game-winning goals were tops in the league.

St. Anselm’s Peter Sikalis was selected as the conference’s Defender of the Year for the second consecutive season, while teammate Trey Aiello was selected as the Rookie of the Year. Their head coach, Ed Seney, was named Coach of the Year as the Hawks posted a 4-1 mark in NE-10 play.

Franklin Pierce’s Tom McGuckin was tabbed the league’s Goaltender of the Year and posted a 3.15 GAA, which was second-best in the NE-10. His .911 save percentage was also among the conference’s top marks.

Seney was tabbed top coach for the third time in his career. During the season, Seney recorded his 200th win with the Hawks, and is one of the winningest coaches in the country with 371 career victories overall.
