The Winnipeg Jets have announced the signing of Merrimack junior defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Kovacevic’s two-year deal will begin next season.

He has signed an amateur tryout contract with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose and will join the club for the remainder of the season.

Kovacevic was drafted by the Jets in the third round (74th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft and recorded 18 points (four goals, 14 assists) in 31 games for the Warriors, being voted the team’s MVP this season. Kovacevic’s 18 points led all Merrimack defensemen and was tied for seventh among Hockey East blueliners.
