St. Norbert is headed back to the Frozen Four. The Green Knights will be making their 12th appearance after rolling past Augsburg, 5-2, Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA tournament. The 12th trip is the most in NCAA Division III history.

The top-ranked Green Knights, now 25-4-1, defeated the 11th-ranked Auggies in the tournament for the third consecutive year, and their win streak now stands at 10 games.

St. Norbert jumped in front 3-0 before the Auggies cut the lead to one thanks to goals from Chandler Madry and Luke Dietsch.

Luke Karakas, Chris Rygus, and Peter Bates staked the Green Knights to a 3-0 advantage.

Timmy Nicksic and Keegan Milligan finished off the scoring in the third period. Dominick Saaco tallied three assists, and Alfred Johansson dished out two assists.

St. Norbert finished the game with a 36-25 advantage in shots. T.J. Black tallied 23 saves. Nick Schmit made 31 saves for Augsburg, which ends the year at 19-10.

The Green Knights now turn their attention to the national semifinals Friday against Colby in Lake Placid, New York.

Pointers punch ticket to Frozen Four
Wisconsin-Stevens Point skated to a Frozen Four appearance Friday with a 5-2 win Saturday over second-ranked Adrian on the road.

The Pointers are now 21-5-3 on the season. Kelly O’Brien gave Wis.-Stevens Point a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the game.

The Pointers stretched their lead to 3-0 thanks to a pair of goals from Zach Zech in a span of 4:31 in the opening period of play. The lead proved to be too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.

Taylor McCloy and Trevor Boyd made things interesting in the second period, both scoring to trim the Pointers’ lead to 3-2. Nathan Harris scored his first goal of the year to put Wis.-Stevens Point up 4-2, and Brennen Miller finished off the scoring with 32 seconds left.

Kevin Entmaa made 13 saves, and Dillon Kelley stopped 21 shots for the Bulldogs, who end the year with a 24-6 record.

Max Milosek made 32 saves for the Pointers, who will take on Salve Regina Friday in Lake Placid with a trip to the national championship game on the line.
