To complete a three-point Hockey East weekend at Gutterson Fieldhouse, the Minutemen set a single-game program record with four short-handed goals, and Ryan Wischow made 31 saves. Niko Hildenbrand scored two goals to lead a group of six UMass skaters with two points. UMass took a 2-0 lead on the strength of short-handed goals from Jake Gaudet and Hildenbrand within a 57-second span midway through the first period, but Rob Darrar’s first goal of the season brought the hosts within one at intermission. After a scoreless middle frame and Hildenbrand’s second goal 3:55 into the third, Christian Evers and Trey Phillips drew the Cats even with goals in just over three minutes. Jack Suter tallied the winner at 15:46 before Cale Makar and Austin Plevy each posted man-down, empty-net goals in the final 93 seconds. Stefanos Lekkas made 32 saves for Vermont. Jarrid Privitera recorded assists on the first two Catamounts goals.
