Mantenuto breaks deadlock at Robert Morris heads to AHC quarters with 3-2 win

In Pittsburgh, the Colonials scored two goals in the latter half of the first period and got the game-winner from Daniel Mantenuto at 15:18 of the second to advance to the second round of Atlantic Hockey postseason play. Seventh-seeded, 15-19-3 Robert Morris will face Holy Cross in next weekend’s quarterfinals.

Francis Marotte made 31 saves in net for the Colonials, who took a 2-0 lead on goals by Michael Louria and Alex Tonge in the opening frame. Tonge’s goal came shorthanded at the 17:55 mark and was his team-leading 16th of the season. Brandon Watt assisted on RMU’s first and last goals of the game.

Kyle Schmidt and Charlie Marchand tied the score with power-play goals at 18:40 of the first and 10:57 of the second, respectively. However, the Falcons could not put any of their 31 remaining shots past Marotte, including 14 in the third period. Jonathan Desbiens assisted on both goals for the Falcons, who got 25 saves from Aidan Pelino. Bentley finishes the season at 13-18-6.
