Oddo atones for ejection as Ohio State earns split with No. 9 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. — Nick Oddo’s Saturday night was significantly better than his Friday night.

A night after being ejected eight minutes into a loss, the Ohio State center scored the go-ahead goal in the second period, and the Buckeyes upset No. 9 Wisconsin 3-1 on Saturday.

Ohio State’s Nick Schilkey tied the game midway through the second period just 1:38 after Mark Zengerle gave the Badgers the lead.

And Oddo put the Buckeyes ahead less than four minutes later. Darik Angeli scored into an empty net in the final minute for Ohio State (12-9-1, 2-5-1 Big Ten), which earned only its second win over Wisconsin (14-7-1, 5-3) in 13 tries since 1965.

Christian Frey made 36 saves for the Buckeyes, who were outshot 17-5 in the first period and 37-22 for the game.

Joel Rumpel allowed two goals on 21 shots for Wisconsin.

Oddo got a major checking-from-behind penalty 7:49 into Friday’s game, which Wisconsin won 5-3. The junior had a goal and an assist and was plus-2 on Saturday.
