Mike Maturo scored two goals and added an assist, leading Dartmouth to a 6-3 upset of No. 5 New Hampshire in the first round of the Ledyard National Bank Auld Lang Syne Classic on Friday night. <\/p>\n

Dartmouth (4-6-0) broke the ice first when Chris Taliercio scored 5:06 into the opening period. New Hampshire (12-4-3) answered just 50 seconds later on a Sean Austin goal. <\/p>\n

Dory Tisdale and Maturo staked Dartmouth to a 3-1 lead before Colin Hemingway cut the UNH deficit to one, 3-2, on a power play goal with 2:56 left in the first. <\/p>\n

Dartmouth’s Mike Murray scored the lone goal of the second period for a 4-2 lead. <\/p>\n

In the third, Maturo had his second of the game for a 5-2 Big Green advantage with 11:53 to go. <\/p>\n

UNH’s Darren Haydar and Dartmouth’s Chris Baldwin traded goals at 10:20 and 14:56, respectively, to account for the final score. The six goals were the most scored by Dartmouth this season. <\/p>\n

In the nets, Dartmouth’s Nick Boucher had 36 saves. Ty Conklin had 21 for UNH before being relieved by Michael Ayers who finished with two. <\/p>\n

For Dartmouth, Murray had one goal and two assists, while UNH’s Garrett Stafford had three assists. <\/p>\n
