No. 6 St. Cloud battled back from a three-goal deficit to gain a big 7-5 win over No. 4 Colorado College. The Huskies scored five unanswered goals over the final two periods, including a pair early in the third period by Tyler Arnason, to earn the win.

The victory, much-needed for the Huskies coming off the heels of Friday’s loss to CC, pushes SCSU’s record to 20-7-1 (13-7-0 WCHA). Colorado College fell to 20-6-1 (15-6-0 WCHA).

CC jumped to a 1-0 lead at 12:37 of the first with a goal by Alex Kim, then moved to a 2-0 lead with a goal by Mark Cullen at 14:37 on the power play.

SCSU charted its first goal at 15:17 of the period when Brian Gaffaney scored with an assist from Ritchie Larson.

However, just 28 seconds later, Kim struck again for the Tigers, and Noah Clarke added another one just minutes later for a 4-1 lead.

The shooting gallery continued into the second period, with SCSU starting its comeback on a goal by Brandon Sampair just 1:27 in. The comeback was temporarily thwarted at 2:52, when Peter Sejna gave CC a 5-2 lead on a power-play goal.

From that point it was all St. Cloud. Andy Lundbohm posted his third goal of the season at 11:51 of the second before Jon Cullen gave the Huskies another goal at 16:01 to end the second period scoring, with St. Cloud trailing 5-4.

In the final period, Arnason charted a power-play goal to tie the game at 3:08. Arnason struck again at 7:49 with the game winner, with an assist from Sampair. Sampair added an empty netter with 14 seconds remaining to cap the comeback.

In the nets, Dean Weasler made the start in place of injured regular Scott Meyer for the Huskies. Weasler had 26 saves, while CC outshot the Huskies 31-29. Jeff Sanger was tagged with the loss for CC with 22 saves.

The rally from 4-1 down was the first time since Nov. 29, 1997 that SCSU has overcome a three-goal deficit. In that game, SCSU defeated Denver, 6-4.
