Olson).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/uahhockey.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/03\/breaking-corbett-resigns-as-coach\/\"><strong>UAHHockey.com<\/strong><\/a>, Alabama Huntsville head coach Mike Corbett has resigned his position at the school.<\/p>\n<p>The resignation was first reported by WAFF.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">UAH hockey Head coach Mike Corbett and staff have resigned this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The program was reinstated last week after a massive fundraising effort.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Carl Prather (@CarlPratherWAFF) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CarlPratherWAFF\/status\/1268201708007690247?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 3, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In an email Wednesday morning to supporters, UAH assistant coach Gavin Morgan announced the \u201cend of his time\u201d with the Chargers.<\/p>\n<p>The report states that Chargers assistant coach Lance West, director of operations Ryan McRae and equipment manager Damon Wheeler will remain on the UAH staff. West was named acting head coach in a UAH news release Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re thankful for the time and contributions to our hockey program and university from both Mike and Gavin while they&#8217;ve been here at UAH,&#8221; said UAH director of athletics Dr. Cade Smith in a statement. &#8220;We certainly wish them the best in their future endeavors. As we move towards the future, we&#8217;re confident in Lance and look forward to his leadership and what he continues to bring to this program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On May 22, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2020\/05\/22\/breaking-alabama-huntsville-dropping-mens-ice-hockey-effective-immediately-citing-budget\/\"><strong>UAH announced the hockey program would be cut<\/strong><\/a>, and then one week later, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2020\/05\/29\/alabama-huntsville-raises-sufficient-funds-school-announces-team-will-stay-for-2020-21-season\/\"><strong>donations from alumni and supporters raised enough cash<\/strong><\/a> to keep the team afloat for at least one more year.<\/p>\n<p>Also Wednesday, the WCHA officially reinstated Alabama Huntsville as an active member of the conference in a unanimous vote by the conference&#8217;s board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited and so pleased that Alabama Huntsville hockey will return in 2020-21,\u201d WCHA commissioner Bill Robertson said in a statement. \u201cThe fundraising effort that has, to date, netted nearly $900,000 is a remarkable accomplishment.
