Harvard defenseman John Marino has signed an entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, giving up his senior season with the Crimson.

Marino, who was acquired by the Penguins in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers on June 26, was originally drafted by the Oilers in the sixth round (154th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.

The North Easton, Mass., native completes his Harvard career with 42 points (seven goals, 35 assists) in 101 contests over three seasons. He skated in all but one game during his Harvard career, and recorded a plus-38 rating.

A three-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic selection, Marino was elected captain by his teammates at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season.
