TROY, N.Y. – Maine’s Nolan Vesey scored twice in the opening three minutes, 13 seconds of the nonconference game and later assisted Tim Doherty’s game-winner midway through the second to down the host Engineers.
Evan Tironese scored a power-play goal with 5:09 left in the third to cut the Black Bears’ lead. Maine goalie Rob McGovern made 27 saves while Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Linden Marshall made 32 stops in the loss.
