Wildcats Start Fast, Cruise Past Buckeyes, 4-0

The New Hampshire Wildcats hit hard and fast, putting a goal on the board 45 seconds into the game and never looking back en route to a 4-0 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes Friday night.

Kira Misikowetz scored her first of the season from Carolyn Gordon and Janine Goulet in the opening minute, and Jenn Wildman extended the Wildcats’ lead to 2-0 at 4:51. Assists went to Kristine Butt and Nicole Stefanilo.

Allison Edgar would cap off the Wildcats’ first-period scoring drive at 16:08 with a power-play goal, sending UNH into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead.

At 13:25 in the second period, Annie Fahlenbock scored her second goal of the season and the Wildcats’ fourth of the game. Thornton collected her second assist on the night to round out the scoring.

For the fourth-consecutive game, OSU outshot its opponent, this time 35-22. April Stojak stopped 18 of 22 Wildcat shots, while UNH goalie Jen Huggon tallied 35 saves for the win.

OSU went 0-for-10 on the power play, while UNH converted one of eight opportunities.

Following the nonconference final, the Buckeyes stand at 2-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the WCHA. UNH remains undefeated at 2-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 in the ECAC. OSU will face off against UNH at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in the series finale at the OSU Ice Arena.
